Fleet Spurs and Bedfont and Feltham return to league action this Saturday for a promotion clash in the Combined Counties Division One. Both teams will seek three points and this should be an enthralling football match.
Both sides won on their most recent outings with Fleet dominating a one-sided game v Cove FC and Bedfont hammering Lutterworth Athletic in the Buildbase FA Vase. Indeed, Bedfont are now on a run of three consecutive wins whilst Fleet have only not won this season against the mightily impressive Jersey Bulls away. Joint Manager Adrian Wilson said "We are hungry to get back to league action this weekend. Our primary aim this season is to fight for promotion and winning our home matches is crucial to this pursuit." Wilson continued "The squad is strong with Rob Parrott returning to the fold after a long cricket season."
Saturday will see competition for places in every position with the Fleet Spurs squad nearing full strength. Joint manager Alan Reed said "The squad looks strong. It's really tough picking eleven out of this group as everyone is at the standard we need." Reed went on "I encourage all players to show great attitude, work hard at training and to earn their place."
Last season, the sides met twice with Bedfont dominating the match in West London but only managing to hang on for a nil-nil draw in Fleet. Indeed, at the time of both fixtures, there was a belief that Bedfont may have won the league last time around. In the end, their challenge fell away in the late season but there is little doubt that both sides will compete for the higher places in the league this season.
Kick-off is 15:00 with gates open from 14:15. We look forward to seeing you at Kennels Lane.
