Saturday 20th October 2019 sees a crucial match play out at Kennels Lane, Southwood with Fleet Spurs looking to reignite their season after a run of losses. Meanwhile, the visitors, Farnham Town will look to hammer home their second-place slot in the league table with another three points.
Recent contests between the two sides have been mixed with two matches last season and a win a-piece. The mirror fixture at Kennels Lane last time around saw Fleet Spurs runout 5-1 winners in a very high-quality performance whilst the match at Farnham saw the home side narrowly win 2-1. Joint manager Alan Reed said "We know Farnham Town pretty well. They're a good side and are well-coached. We also know that a good performance from us on Saturday will mean that we have every chance to take the points." Reed went on "We believe that our current form and league position does not reflect our potential. All of us are trying to reach that potential and that needs to happen on Saturday. If it does, we will win the game."
Captain for the day Jack Church had this to say "It's time for a volte-face for this Fleet Spurs team. We will achieve that through hard work, commitment, discipline and by creating chances to score goals." Church also said "I am demanding a performance today from our starting XI, from our bench, from our managers, from everyone! Today, we will all put in a real shift for the side and for the club."
Fleet Spurs find themselves in 16th position in the league at the time of kick-off but a win could propel them as high as tenth with games in hand on those around them. However, a loss could see the side slip into the bottom three. The stakes are high and the game at Kennels Lane will be entertaining and hotly contested.
