Fleet Spurs First Team head towards Salisbury to play 3rd place Bemerton Heath Harlequins in this Wessex Football League Division 1 fixture. This game appears to be our first encounter with Bemerton, who were a Premier Division side until 2019/20 season.
Until recently, Bemerton were flying high in the division but recently have stumbled with no win in 3 matches, in fact their 2 losses in the season so far were in the last 3 games, see below.
Interesting that Ringwood took all 3 points from the Harlequins in a thrilling, winning goal scored in added time, 5-4 game, when Spurs recorded their first win of the season against Ringwood (1-3) the following Saturday.
Despite recent losses Bemerton have the meanest defence in the division at 17 goals conceded in 14 games. Upfront their top scorer is Justin Bennett who has scored 14 goals of the Harlequins 46 league goals.
Spurs were unable to build on their impressive win at Ringwood & fell to Ash United 0-2 earlier this week and remain 20th in the table.
On paper Bemerton should win, even with their current blip, but who know, if Spurs play with the freedom of being heavy underdogs allows & the Harlequins nerves get the better of them, perhaps an upset is on the cards at Moon Park.
