For the second week running we welcome visitors from the Isle of Wight. This Saturday it is the turn of East Cowes Victoria to cross The Solent and travel up the M3 to Kennels Lane.
We have played The Vic' twice already this season, once on the island in a league fixture - a 5-0 loss to Spurs and once in the league cup - Spurs fairing slightly better with a 3-0 loss!
We hope that the improvement continues and possibly match or better the last league game between these 2 sides at Kennels Lane back in season 2016/17, a 2-1 win for Spurs, a brace scored by Jamil Olweny.
East Cowes sit 16th in the league with an 8 point advantage on Spurs in 18th place. The Islanders recent league form is 2 wins in 6 games. Their player to look out for is Jimmi Burton who has scored 16 goals in 27 league games. In their most recent league game The Vic' lost 3-0 away at Verwood Town, who Spurs beat earlier this month with the same scoreline at Kennels Lane.
Meanwhile Spurs have also a 2 wins in 6 games form guide and our top scorer Tom White continues to add to his tally with 18 goals in 26 games, so Saturday should be an interesting game.
Of our survival rivals, Totton & Eling in 19th place are 6 points behind Spurs with 5 games to go, on Saturday Totton are at home to 10th place transitioning Verwood Town and Fawley AFC in 17th (5 points ahead of Spurs but have played one more game) are at home to table toppers Folland Sports.
With 6 games to go all league fixtures are crucial. We have some seen improvements from Fleet players lately, with 2 wins in the last 3 games, and with concentration, care, talent and a bit of luck we could see Spurs survive the challenge.
