The FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round sees Fleet Spurs Football Club visit Milton Keynes Robins in a game that is absolutely crucial to both teams. The Spurs arrive at the game off the back of two successive league defeats, the most recent a very disappointing last-minute home loss to Bedfont and Feltham on Saturday 7th September. The Robins have drawn their last two in the Spartan South Midlands Division One league.
The two sides will know relatively little about one another at 3 pm on Saturday and it will be essential for both teams to settle into their rhythm of play as early as possible against new opposition. Joint Manager Alan Reed said "It's important we bounce back with a good performance on Saturday. We have shown signs of real quality in every game we have played but we need to convert that into a full 90 or if needs be 120-minute performance." Reed went on "Both Adrian (Wilson, Joint Manager) and I are looking for a reaction from our squad. The FA Vase matches are always a great experience and are important to the club."
Adrian Wilson was asked about the squad for the game. He answered "The squad is strong. We have two injuries throughout the entire squad but, otherwise, we have a full team to select from." Wilson continued "I need to repeat what I have said before. The lads need to compete for their places and make their position their own by hitting a performance level that gets them selected next week. That is the job of every player in the squad."
The FA Vase is a crucial competition for teams at this tier of football. Saturday's game will see a prize pot of £975 with the majority going to the winner. Chairman Kierin Gurrie said "In many ways, this is just another game of football but today we also aim to put some cash in the coffers. The club is looking for a big effort from the players to secure that prize."
Squad from:
Cadle, Appleby, Jupp, Noble, Parrott, Nasir, Church, Scott, Saleh, Lindsay, Hayler, Olweny, Bellmaine A, Belllmaine J, Smith, Ludlow, Billingham M.
